After his defeat in the French Culinary Competition, Qingxiong returned to Taiwan in search of soulful cuisine. He apprenticed himself to Master Awang, who ran a mobile kitchen serving custom dishes around the island. Meatball stew, chicken rolls, fried rice noodles, salt-baked chicken... each dish from Master Awang's menu, especially his famous Pig’s trotter over rice, held a story within.
