Introduction

Based on Terao Tetsuya’s essay collection Overfitting (努力是癮), this manga adapts seven bizarre yet all-too-real stories from the widely envied world of Silicon Valley’s tech industry.
The stories are about a stingy coworker who squeezes every possible benefit out of the company’s free perks, a “Phoenix Man” who clawed his way up from a third-tier rural village into the capitalist class, only to lose all empathy along the way, a powerful career woman tormented by her own inability to stop backbiting junior colleagues, and engineers whose lives have been warped by elite education.
With a style that is both surreal and sharply realistic, the author presents true workplace horror stories.
